How to Achieve Enduring Success

Everybody wants to be successful but few know the fact that there is a way to go about the business of being successful. I want to share with you what Dr. Norman Vincent Peale calls The Law of Successful Achievement. This is how it works:

1.Have a goal; not a vague one but a clearly defined goal with a deadline; it is also important that you develop a strong desire for the achievement of your goal. A desire strong enough to keep you pushing so that you will never give up in the face of the obstacles that are bound to show up along the way. With a strong desire and a sharp focus, you can turn your obstacles into stepping stones.

2.Pray about your goal. Pray that your objectives are right and that God helps to you to achieve these goals. Prayer release power. In his best seller, The Power of Positive Thinking, Dr. Peale writes people are doing more praying today than formerly because they find that it adds to personal efficiency. Prayer helps to tap forces and to utilize strength not otherwise available.

3.Picture your goal clearly and hold a positive image of yourself succeeding. This is very important and has been used by great achievers in all walks of life. Always create a mental picture of yourself as having already achieved your goals. This is what Arnold Schwarzenegger did and it did work for him. Steve Chandler narrates his encounter with Arnold in the early days of his Career at Hollywood. With his huge body-builder appearance, when Arnold told Steve that his goal is to be the number-one-box-office star in all of Hollywood, Mr. Chandler did not take him seriously, he says that the only thing that kept him from laughing at this statement was the physical strength of the man saying it. Yes of course you can’t mess with the world’s strongest man. But after a polite question on how Arnold planned to achieve this goal, he answered that what you do is create a vision of who you want to be and live into that picture, as if it were already true.

4.Put strong positive thoughts behind your goal. Do not entertain negative thoughts about your goals. Thomas Jefferson puts it this way. Always take things by the smooth handle. Jefferson was referring to the need to think positively about yourself, your goals and your circumstances. Negative thoughts create friction whilst positive thoughts enlist the support of this magnificent universe that you are an integral part of. Remember the biblical saying: “if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth”. Keep these words of Jesus Christ in your mind, and keep pushing to your cherished destination, SUCCESS.

Now you have a time-tested formula to implement in your life and attain your cherished dreams. You must ACT on these principles or else they would be useless. Ideas and plans have no value unless put to use. Do not wait for another minute but ACT NOW!
